Troubleshooting the Camera

Below is a list of common problems and solutions that may be encountered when using the LogiTech QuickCam with Perfect Interview.

Problem Solution
Audio is out of synch with video. The LogiTech camera driver must be configured in order to record video and sound correctly with Perfect Interview. Follow these steps to configure the camera driver:
  1. Log on to Perfect Interview
  2.  Access the Tools tab of the Main Menu
  3. Click on the Test Camera button.
  4. Click on the 'Compressors' button.
  5. Select Indeo 5.x driver 
  6. Click on the Config button 
  7. Make sure the Quick Compress option is checked.17) 
  8. Click on OK to close the Configuration window, then click on OK again to close the Compressor window.18) 
  9. Then, click on the Save button to save your choices and close the main application window.
Audio is out of synch with video after using LogiTech Camera Control or LogiTech Image Studio. This problem can occur after accessing the LogiTech Camera Control or ImageStudio software. Accessing this software while using Perfect Interview interferes with the camera driver settings. To resolve this problem, you must end the current Perfect Interview session and re-boot the computer. To avoid this problem, do not use the LogiTech camera control or Image Studio software while using Perfect Interview.

Picture is blurry. The lens needs to be focused. Turn the focus ring located in front of the camera lens until the picture is clear.

Picture is dark or subject is in shadow and cannot be seen. Good lighting is important to record a clear image. The subject should have moderately bright light falling on his or her face. The lighting should be even, with all parts of the image receiving approximately the same amount of light. Be sure to avoid backlighting where a bright light or window is located behind the subject. This will cause the subject s face to appear shadowed.

The recording seems "jerky" or breaks up on playback. Video recording requires almost all of your computer's power.  Be sure that all other applications are closed down before you start Perfect Interview.  You may also need to de-fragment your hard disk drive to ensure efficient video recording.  Please refer to your operating system documentation for instructions on this procedure.
